What is Blogging?
At its core, blogging is about creating and sharing content on the internet. This could be anything from personal stories and opinions to how-to guides and industry insights. A blog is typically updated regularly with new posts, allowing you to engage with your readers, sell products you use or recommend, and build a community around your content.
Why Start a Blog?
Blogging offers many benefits, including the ability to express yourself, share your knowledge, and potentially earn an income. Learning how to blog is also a great way to connect with like-minded people and build an online presence.
Online Classes
When I first decided to try blogging, I was worried it wouldn’t work for me… I thought that because there were so many other bloggers out there, that it would be too saturated and be a waste of time..(not to mention I had no clue how to begin)
I WAS DEAD WRONG!
Not only was I wrong about blogging not being real and legit but it didn’t take me more than four months to see results. And it was all thanks to the Perfecting Blogging course by Sophia Lee who walked me step by step on how to learn blogging who I am giving credit to.Â
After taking Perfecting Blogging I had a page full of Blog post ideas, my wordpress site live, free templates to follow along to and step by step video instructions (she does a great job showing you what to do and how to do it even the technical stuff).
When learning how to blog, taking a structured approach can make a significant difference. You will learn what not to do and avoid common pitfalls, which will give you a solid foundation to launch a successful blog. A comprehensive course on how to blog will guide you through essential steps such as choosing the right platform, setting up your blog, and creating compelling content.
Setting Up Your Blog
The first step in starting a blog is selecting a blogging platform. Popular options include:
- WordPress: Highly customizable with countless themes and plugins.
- Blogger: Simple to use and integrates well with Google services.
- Medium: Great for reaching a built-in audience and focusing on writing.
If you purchased the Perfecting Blogging course, Sophia takes you step by step on how to choose the right one. WordPress is going to be the most customizable as far as how you want your website to look.
Pick a Domain Name and Hosting
Your domain name is your blog’s address on the web (for example, www.yourblogname.com). Choose a name that reflects your blog’s content and is easy to remember. (most people get stuck in time at this step, remind yourself to keep is simple and sweet and if you want to change it later you can)
For hosting, you’ll need a service to store your blog’s files. Many hosting providers, like Bluehost or SiteGround, offer easy WordPress integration and reliable service. And Cheap.Â
Set Up and Customize Your Blog
Once you’ve chosen your platform and set up your domain and hosting, you can start building your blog. Choose a theme that fits your style, once you create an account the platform should walk you through choosing a theme and now you are ready to customize it to your liking. This is why blogging is considered a creative outlet, literally you can design it however you want.
Most platforms offer user-friendly tools to help you design your blog’s layout and add essential features.Â
If you get stuck on anything, just remember YouTube is a useful tool if you need to see how something is done.
Creating Content
This is where bloggers make money… CONTENT. What you talk about is how people will buy from you.Â
- Pick a Niche (or write about multiple topics and consider it a Lifestyle niche)
- Plan Your Content (make a list of keywords and blog titles… if you didn’t purchase Perfecting Blogging do so now because if you get stuck here, this will give you ideas, blog post headlines and titles, instructions on keywords and a blog post template to use)
- Write Your First Post (again, if you purchase Perfecting Blogging then you can follow along to the video lesson on how to write your first blog post). If you don’t purchase the course, there is many resources available on YouTube that can show you show to write a blog post.
To help you come up with your first blog post, choose a specific topic that you’re passionate about or something you like doing or talking about. Whether it’s cooking, travel, technology, makeup, skincare, or home decor or personal development, this will give you a clear picture of what your post is about to your readers.Â
Also to help you plan out your posts, have a content calendar to plan your posts and stay organized. This will help you maintain consistency and ensure you’re covering a variety of topics so you don’t forget what to write about. In Sophia’s course, she provides content planner calendars to you 🙂
When you learn how to blog you to want to write your first blog post with a catchy headline and an engaging introduction.
Structure your post with clear sections, use subheadings to break up the text, and include visuals like images or videos to make it more appealing.

You don’t need to have a ton of written articles written before launching, delaying the process will only take you longer to start earning extra income.Â
At this stage of your blog, you should consider joining a blog facebook group to help you stay accountable, ask questions and connect with others who are where you are in this journey.
When you actively and consistently promote your blog, you’ll gradually see in increase of income and readers over time (yay!)
Pinterest is a great way to market your blog posts with only using pins.Â
